Wa Technical Institute came into existence through a collaboration between the Government of Ghana and the USSR Government in March 1993. The agreement, known as the Ghana/USSR Commission for Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation, signed in 1989, gave birth to the Institute. The school currently runs full-time programmes for students placed directly after Junior High School (JHS) and also part-time courses for students who do not get placement with the CSSPS, but still want to acquire technical skills training
