History of Kumasi Technical Institute
Kumasi Technical Institute was established in September 1976 by the Government of Ghana with support and in collaboration with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). However, academic work started in January 1977. Initially, the institute was administered by Ghanaian personnel with Canadian counterparts serving as counselors until May 1978 when the Canadians began to hand over the institute to a wholly Ghanaian administration. The last of the Canadians left in June 1979. Kumasi Technical Institute is situated on a 40-acre piece of land donated by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.
