Asuansi Technical Institute is the front runner in Technical Education in Ghana. It began as a rural school on 12th August 1917 to train pupils up to standard 3 in reading, writing and arithmetic. It was converted into a Trade School to encourage Vocational Education in Agriculture, Carpentry, Masonry and Metal work in 1922. Further transformations occurred over the years till 1963 when it was re-named Asuansi Technical Institute to run Craft Courses. The 2007 Education Reforms transmuted the curriculum of the institute with the integration of the core subjects. The Programmes currently are run at the COTVET Certificate II level.
