The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to roll out the Leaders in Teaching program to introduce interventions aimed at improving the quality of secondary education in the country.

The GES made the announcement in a Twitter post on May 11, stating that a high-level management meeting was held last week to orient internal stakeholders on the Secondary Education Reform Programme, code-named Leaders in Teaching (LiT).

The meeting, supported by the Transforming Teacher Education and Learning (TTEL) project, brought together GES Council members, divisional directors, regional directors, unit heads, and other key officers from regional and district education directorates.

"The meeting discussed and agreed on the implementation approach for LiT and the roll-out of Professional Learning Communities and other interventions in all senior high and technical schools," a GES tweet on Thursday, said in part.

Through continuous professional development, the Leaders in Teaching program seeks to equip teachers with the right skills, attitudes, and competencies for effective classroom teaching and student learning.

The rollout of the interventions under LiT and the establishment of Professional Learning Communities across secondary schools were some of the key resolutions from last week's high-level meeting.

The Ghana Education Service says it is committed to working with all stakeholders to introduce innovative education reforms that will improve teaching and learning outcomes at all levels of the education system.
